A question we are often asked has to do with the spacing of chiropractic and massage therapy appointments…
Should you have both on the same day? Massage before chiropractic or vice versa? Or… should you space them out to not overload the body all at once? These are all good questions, and the truth is, it depends on the individual. We have many patients that come in for both a chiropractic and massage visit on the same day. Some like to have their massage first to relax the surrounding muscles, and feel that chiropractic work following a massage is more effective. Others prefer to have their relaxing massage visit after a chiropractic appointment. Most people have no issues receiving both treatments back to back. Rarely, some find it a little too much for one day and prefer to space visits a day or two apart.
At Bluebird Sport & Spine, Dr. Steve and Dr. Laura incorporate soft tissue treatment into virtually every chiropractic visit using Active Release Techniques® and/or Graston Technique®. We target specific muscles that are contributing to or causing your problem. We assess and treat much more than just joints! If we feel that your issue has a large muscular component, or that you would benefit from a massage, we will often suggest a concurrent treatment with our Registered Massage Therapist Ashley. In turn, Ashley will refer patients to us when she knows they will benefit from chiropractic care.
We practice a team approach to give you the best care possible, and we will discuss your specific case together to ensure all practitioners are on the same page and working hard to reach your individual health goals. You are unique, so lets make sure your chiropractic and massage care is unique to YOU!
Feel free to stop in and chat with any of us here at Bluebird Sport & Spine, and we can answer all of your chiropractic or massage questions.
In good health,
Dr. Steve
