A question we are often asked… What is Active Release Techniques® or ART®?
Both Dr. Steve and Dr. Laura (the chiropractors/owners at Bluebird Sport & Spine in Vernon, BC) utilize Active Release Techniques® or “ART®” as one of their primary soft tissue therapies. They are both full body certified Active Release Techniques® providers.
So what is Active Release Techniques® you ask…?
ART® is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART®. Every ART® session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The Active Release Techniques® provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are then treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.
How is ART® incorporated into our chiropractic treatments?
Dr. Laura and Dr. Steve utilize ART® in virtually every treatment session to target specific tissues that are tight, fibrotic or dysfunctional. They use ART® as well as other soft tissue therapies such as Graston Technique®, myofascial release and trigger point therapy to not only treat the area of pain, but also assess and normalize other areas of dysfunction/links in the fascial network of the body that may also be causing or contributing to your problem. We make sure to get to the root of the issue. These soft tissue therapies are paired with manual chiropractic care and patient-specific rehabilitation (stretches, postural re-training, core stability exercises etc.) to provide you with a comprehensive chiropractic visit aimed at getting you feeling better faster, and back to the things you love doing.
